Aboriginal Art

Once upon a time there's was four aboriginal tribes and they all were starving for emu, the problem was that there wasn't many emus left. But there was a giant emu that was walking around the bush but it was way too big and when I say big I mean huge! So that meant the couldent hunt it down. Then they had an idea, the idea was for all the tribes to join together and ambush the emu, so they did. All of the tribe members kept throwing there hunting boomerangs at the emu and eventually the emu fell to the ground and that was enough to feed all four tribes for a year.

The A&P show

Last week our class was making an A&P show presentation, these are the things that I put on it.

The first thing that I put on it was the ride, for the ride we had to design our own amusement ride for the A&P show so here is my ride.

 The second thing I did was the A&P show history. We had to research stuff about the A&P show, like who created the A&P show and other questions like that.

 My last activity was the animals, for the animals you had to pick an animal that you saw at the show then you had to find out stuff about the animal.

 After I completed all of the activities we had to be put in groups and present our presentations to our group. We also had a pair assessor to give us feedback, myn was Tegan. Here is my feedback from him.

I would like some feedback for this blog post and maybe if you learnt something new you could tell me what you learnt.

The Ocean Maker

This is my blog post about The ocean maker so can I please have some feedback?

The Ocean maker

In the boiling hot desert that used to be a ocean There were ship wrecked sail boats, aircraft carriers and submarines. There was also a lighthouse that was on a pile of rocks, that used to be a tiny piece of island to fit the lighthouse on it. So I went for a search for the rain maker in my very old bi-plane.

So I took off in it and flew around the desert for a rain maker to fill the the desert up with water So that there was an ocean again.

I was also trying to find out how all the water just disappeared like that.

After 30 mins of searching two of the engines failed and the other two were too old to keep the plane in the air so it was heading right into the side of a rocky mountain

Then the plane exploded on the mountain and I died.

My trip to mt hutt with my school

On Friday my school and I went to Mt Hutt to go skiing but I went snowboarding. I had lots of fun with my friends up on the mountain. I wanted to go up the summit six which is the big chair lift but my friends just wanted to go up the quad which is the small chair lift. When we had our lessons I got to have a one on one lesson because I was the only snowboarder. The instructor I had when I wasn't with the school was the instructor that I had when I was with the school so that was a surprise. after my lesson I went up the summit six with my teachers and it was quite foggy. Then after all of the fun we had we came back from the mountain and went home.

Going to mt hutt with my class

On friday my class and I are going to mt hutt to go skiing but i'm am going snowboarding because I like snowboarding more than skiing. I am really exited and I cant wait to go there. Hopefully there are some good skiers there so that I can go to the top of the mountain with them. I am scared of going in the bus though because to years ago something went wrong with the bus.  So hopefully I get to go in a car or something like that.

Toolkit

This week we went to Toolkit at hornby primary and there were other schools that came as well. We had three section's and one of  the section's that we did was ours and we had to present our presentation about Canva,Be funky and piktochart. The other to section's we did sound trap and scratch. I liked sound trap because we got to make our own music and I learnt a bit more about it. We also did Scratch which is a website where you do coding, that was real fun. We got to learn how to make a game then we got to play the game so that was the best part of my day. After all of that we went back to school to have a normal day.

Cycle safe

This monday and tuesday the year 5/6 had cycle safe. On monday we had to do practise in the school and we learnt lots of new things. On tuesday we got to out on the roads and it was lots of fun.

My speech

For my speech this term I am doing it about why snowboarding is better skiing, this is my opinion.

 

Hi My name is Saxon and I’m going to tell you why I think snowboarding is better than skiing. I like snowboarding because you can do way more tricks and you have less to worry about. With skiing you’ve got two poles and two skis. but with snowboarding you've got one board and that is not much at all.

I think you could hurt yourself more on skis Because there apart. And you could twist your legs and that would really hurt. With snowboards it's easier to do jumps And I think everyone would like doing jumps. I think skiing is more complicated because you've got so much things to do like pizza and I don't even know what that is.So that is why I don't ski.

I think the boots in snowboarding are more comfortable than ski boots because You get to Have leather Boots and it's way more comfortable than plastic ski boots. I like snowboarding better than skiing because you don't have to hold poles when you're going down the mountain and that is annoying.

People say that it's easy to ski but I think it's easier to snowboard. And it's way easier to do jumps on a snowboard then ski's. You can get way more airborne as well. People think that you can go faster on skis than snowboards but I think you can go faster and snowboards. You can even control your speed but you have to be experienced. But it is real easy to turn and use your brakes.

I don't like skiing because When you're going down the mountain the skis can fall off your feet sometimes. It would be annoying having to going back up the mountain to get them. Same thing with ski poles, if you dropped them would have to go back up to get them.

So that is why I think snowboarding is better than skiing, hopefully you change from what you've heard. Thank you for listening to this speech.

Book Awards Day

On Monday we went to book awards day at st Margret's high school. We had to listen to the six authors and they told us about there books. I liked the author called Des Hunt because his book sounds really cool and he made me want to read it. Some of it was about eels and facts about them. He also was playing with balloons which was funny. I learnt that eels never stop growing. Here are some photos to show you what we did.

Snowborading

On Thursday I was lucky enough to go mt Hutt to go snowboarding. It was really fun because I got to miss out on school. I went up the chair lifts which are the high chair lifts I also went up the highest chair lift called the summit six and it was so high up. It took about 15 minutes to get down and I was so tired. The other chair lift i went up to was the quad and I liked that one more because it hurt less on my legs. I did some really sharp turns, so sharp that I nearly fell over. I also did some jumps and wheelies which was fun. I sometimes got really fast and fell over. I went down the intermediate slopes and they were really steep. I was a great day but i'm saw.

School Holidays

On the holidays I went to mt Hutt with my cousins and I went snowboarding, they went skiing. we went up the chairlift and we came down the intermediate runs. After that I went to the movies to watch spider man homecoming, It was a really cool movie. Then Rhys came over to my house for a play date and we went to Flip out and we saw Hunter Collings. After that I went to Tekapo for a holiday with my dad, my brother Levi and I. When we got there my cousins were there such as Jack, Bella and Ruby. In the morning it was raining so we just played board games. The next day it was pouring down with snow and everything was covered in snow we got the toboggans out and we went up a hill to use them. The next day we went to go ice skating but I didn't really like it so we went tubing. The next day it was snowing again so we used the toboggans a bit more then we started driving back home.

Interland

Interland is a game that is made by google and it is for learning cybersmart. It is really fun but at the same time it is teaching you stuff about cybersmart. It is fun because you get to do different levels and try to beat your high score. Maths DLO

This week we have been learning short division. I like short division because it isn’t to complicated and it is quite short. With other strategies it is harder because there is more work to do.

football zones

On wednesday some of our class went to rolleston for friday sport zones. I played football at zones and we won two games and we lost three games. It was fun because we got a day off school and we saw our friends from other schools.

On friday we went to the school disco. It was cool because the music was good. I thought it was really fun because we got to run around like we were drunk. We were flipping half full juice bottles and throwing chips in the air.

Bloody mary

One day my mum was baking a cake but she forgot the milk so she asked me go get it but I had to be back by five. So while I was walking down to the dairy I thought I should play in the playground. Then I looked at my watch and it was nearly five so I got out of the slide and I started walking back to the dairy but I heard a whisper but no one was there so I kept walking. After that I heard a noise going “click, click slide ”2x. So when I got to the dairy I got the milk and started running but I still heard the noise so when I got home I tried getting inside but my mum wouldn't let me because it was past five and I had to sleep outside. In the morning my mum got out of bed and looked out the window but I was hanging up on a tree dead and I had deep cuts all over my body.

The next day my mum was investigating why I died and she called my dad who worked in the army to come home, so he did and my mum jumped in her car but it wouldn't start so she opened the bonnet and all the wires were cut so she got her bike instead by the spokes were cut. Luckily she had a spare bike so she hopped on it and peddled away down a bike track but she heard “click, click slide ”2x. So she peddled even faster but bloody mary caught her and killed her so then my dad was all alone so he called the police but there was no response because the power lines were down and all the electricity. So he got his army gun and started running down the road but he couldn't see any movement, then he heard the noise go “click, click slide ”2x so he loaded his gun, turned around and shot bloody mary but it didn't do anything because she already in such a bad condition with no legs and deep cuts all over her body. So she killed my dad as well.

Once upon a time there was a man that loved chickens his name was Jimmy . One day he went for a walk and saw a wishing well, then he throw some money in it and wished for 100 giant chickens. A few days later the wish came true and 100 giant chickens came running at him and he started having big hugs. He also rid the chickens but when he got bored the joker and his gang came running at him. Luckily batman was there and throw his batarangs at all of them, then they got really angry and killed batman with there guns. The chickens were angry and they charged at the gang with Jimmy on one of the chickens. The chickens smashed the all of the villains and then the police came and arrested the joker and his gang. Then one of the chickens came to pick up batman and put him in his tome. They had a funeral for batman and lots and lots of people came. Then the mayor of the the city said that Jimmy and his chickens were allowed to keep the batcave and do you know what they called it, THE GIANT CHICKEN CAVE.

Planes

Jet planes these are my favorite planes

There are different types of jet planes these aren't the only one’s, the third planes are fighter planes and they are made to shoot down other fighter planes with their missiles and guns in war. The other two are airliners with engines on their wings or close to the tail, these one’s are made to take passengers.

Plane motors

There are two plane motors, jet motors and propellor motors. Propeller motors work the same as boat propellers except there to cut the wind instead of water. A jet motor is different because it has wind coming in and inside it has turbines, combustors and lots of other complicated stuff. They cost way more than 10 million dollars, well it depends how big it is.

Boats

Racing Boats these are my favorite boats .Racing boats are designed to skim across the top of the water at very high speeds . These are the different types of racing boats, the first one is a formula 1 racing boat and they are small, speedy boats with outboard motors, 250 horsepower. The second one is a offshore racing boat, they are the biggest and are designed to race out in the rough waters, around 2000 horsepower. The third one is a unlimited hydroplane, these one’s are the fastest one’s that only daredevils will drive, around 1500 horsepower.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Types of motors: Outboard motors, designed to drive in salty rough water or they can be used for going really fast , stern leg motors are designed for launchers and big offshore racing boats,  and jet motors are made for shallow waters and for big navy ships.

How motors work. All motors on water have the same principal, outboard motors have a spinning propellers that has a shape that  pushes water out the back really fast. A stern leg motor is the same except the motor is inside the boat. A jet motor has water coming in underneath the boat and there’s a pipe that the water comes up then halfway through there’s a propeller that spins and the water comes out the back really fast.

This is what happens when a boat goes to fast and the wind goes underneath the boat and it takes off into the air. Normally they don’t land, like this one. Normally its racing boats that crash like this

My camp

On my camp I went to wreck which is a place in living springs where there is football pitch, a basketball court,
mini golf and a monorail. then went into the swimming pool and on the water slide. then we had butter chicken for dinner icecream for desert. the next day we did rifle, shooting and archery. then we did some bouldering. after that we were tired so we had a swim and then dinner. the next day we played the animal game and left to to go to the animal park then we went on the bus to go back to school. Over all my camp was average.
